Wine of bright and lively appearance, cherry red color with violet background. Intense aromas of black fruit, coffee and pure cocoa, and hints of white flowers, characteristic of Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero region of Burgos. Good balance of wood and fruit due to its long aging in barrels providing spicy, toasted and balsamic aromas, respecting the character of the variety. On the palate it has a fresh start, passing through silky tannins that give way to roundness and structure. The finish is long and full on the palate, leaving an intense memory of black fruit. Pairing with a wide range of dishes such as Spanish “cocido”, stew, rice, fish in sauce. And all kinds of meats.

Bela Arano Crianza, Moradillo De Roa, Ribera del Duero 2019	95 James Suckling Seductively spicy nose of spiced plums, nutmeg, peppercorns and coconut. Full-bodied with creamy, velvety tannins. Rich and delicious. All integrated and polished. Long. Drink or hold. 91 Wine Advocate 2019 was a warm and dry year, and the 2019 Arano shows it with 14.9% alcohol and a pH of 3.63. It was produced with grapes from the village of Moradillo de Roa (all the villages are mentioned on the labels)—four plots of 15-year-old vines that were harvested between September 27th and October 17th. The grapes fermented in stainless steel with selected yeasts, and the wine matured in new French barriques for 15 months. This was a very powerful year, warm and dry, that delivered concentrated wines. This one is the only one of the four wines that I tasted that feels a bit oaky; the élevage was a little longer because of the powerful year and included some new oak and still all 225-liter ones (they are starting now with 500-liter ones). It has clout and a smoky, meaty nose that is quite mainstream, modern and spicy. The palate is medium to full-bodied and reveals abundant, slightly dusty tannins. Bela Arano Crianza, Moradillo De Roa, Ribera del Duero 2021	93 James Suckling Meaty blackberries, sweet spices, black pepper, chocolate, lush fruit and tons of crushed violets. Tannins are juicy and really fine-grained. Long and powerful but really polished. Drink from 2025. 93 Wine Advocate The 2021 Arano was produced with grapes from the village of Moradillo de Roa, five plots of 25-year-old vines that total nine hectares on stony, silt, sand and limestone soils. 2021 was marked by the snow storm of January and the autumn rains followed by a warm summer with some rain the first week of September. The wines have less concentration than in 2020 and have very good alcohol and acidity balance (14.5% alcohol, denoting good ripeness and a slow ripening, and a pH of 3.67). It fermented with selected yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 15 months. It’s serious and has contained ripeness and measured oak, with very fine tannins and a velvety mouthfeel—elegant, clean and balanced. 45,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2023.
