This is a wine of great concentration: the nose is brimming with sour cherries and small forest fruits. The same fruits continue on the palate which reveals a generous body, a smooth and silky mouth feel and a long finish. This wine is an ideal accompaniment to roast meats and pan fried steak.

Ca La Bionda Casal Vegri Valpolicella Classico Superiore, doc Rosso 2020	91 Vinous Perfumed in the glass, the 2020 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Casalvegri blossoms with a blend of dusty rose, dried strawberries and stone hints. This model of purity and elegance is silky and refined with crisp red fruits and sweet inner spice. The 2020 finishes with a gentle tug of tannin, sour citrus and clove while perfectly resetting the palate. This charming vintage of Casalvegri may not be as long-lived as the 2019, but it is impresses with its sheer drinkability. 95 Decanter Alessandro Castellani, a great believer in the potential of the Corvina grape, was one of the first producers to use fruit from a premium vineyard site specifically for the production of Valpolicella, selecting his Casal Vegri vineyard for the purpose. Spicy and ripe plum and cherry aromas with shadings of liquorice and aniseed are followed by a brimful of fresh red cherry flavours with balanced acid and good length. This is a model of purity, with crisp red berry fruits and inner florals, and a salty staining of minerality that settles in toward the close. Grippy yet remarkably fresh, the 2021 tapers off long and potent, with fine-grained tannins that perfectly frame the experience. This beauty needs time.
