Yvonne Rouge is the original red wine produced at the domaine from the exceptional terroir around Parnay. It’s one of the finest Cabernet Francs from the Loire, and has the seemingly indefinite ageing potential of all truly great wines. Château Yvonne ROUGE, Saumur Champigny 2018	17 Jancis Robinson Deep crimson. Smells as if there is more oak here than on La Folie, with some sweet spice overlaying the bright fruit and just a hint of bottle development giving a light savoury character. Darker and deeper-fruited than La Folie. Firmer tannins. A longer and probably more ageworthy wine and still highlights the uniquely Cabernet Franc character. Château Yvonne ROUGE, Saumur Champigny 2019	16.5 Jancis Robinson Reductive on the nose giving a strong rubber aroma plus dark blackcurrant perfume. Leafy on the palate, light tannins, high acidity, medium body. Lots of fragrance and density here, in a very youthful style. Not the crunchiest example – perhaps reflecting a warmer vintage? Château Yvonne ROUGE, Saumur Champigny 2021	92 Wine Advocate The 2021 Saumur Champigny from Château Yvonne, derived from vines planted in clay-limestone soils with a chalky bedrock named “tuffeau,” offers up aromas of cassis, blueberries, violet and dark wild berries. Medium to full-bodied, it’s structured and dense with powdery tannins and a long, mineral finish.
