Yellow color of golden hints. High aromatic intensity and a great complexity where the fruity and floral aromas are standing out, such as apple, pear, white currant, and chamomile flowers. Notes of pastry, autumn fruit and spices from the aging are also present. On the palate it has a smooth entry with a fine, powerful and saline mid palate, and a tannin that makes the wine smooth, rich and elegant. The final acidity leads to a long and complex aftertaste, which makes this wine excellent to enjoy at anytime.

Cune, Viura Rioja Monopole White Clasico Gran Reserva 2017	98 James Suckling Popcorn, honey, matchsticks, moss, sea urchin and roasted cashews on the nose. Salty and concentrated but composed and really long. There is a Sherry touch to it, but the reductive feel makes it such a striking and paradoxical wine. Bring this wine to a dinner and you’d be talking about it all night. Aged in old 600-liter Sherry butts. Drink now or hold. 95 Wine Advocate The white 2017 Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva had the same vinification as the Monopole Clásico but with a longer élevage, almost seven years! It has moderate alcohol (13.5%) and very good freshness and acidity parameters (pH of 3.21 and 6.45 grams of acidity). It has a very expressive and different nose, more oxidative and spicier, with more effect from the yeasts, with a touch of honey and also a touch of diesel. Seems like time concentrated everything, including acidity… It smells more like the Corona, possibly the effect of the cave where they age… There were three barrels and three Sherry butts, a small lot that made for 2,730 bottles. It was bottled in October 2023. 93 Vinous The 2017 Gran Reserva Monopole Clásico, made entirely from Viura and aged for eight months in botas under a biological veil, displays a golden hue. If there’s a link between Jerez and Rioja, this wine is the embodiment, re-launched after a long absence from the shelves. Its oak aging imparts vivid hazelnut and caramel notes more reminiscent of an Oloroso than a typical Rioja white. Refreshingly lean due to the veil, the chalky-textured palate reveals an unexpected and delicious resinous character.
