The vineyard: Nestled just outside the cozy village of Freestone on the West Sonoma Coast, sits the seven-acre vineyard Zephyr Farms. Planted in 2000 on classic Goldridge Soil, the vineyard experiences coastal fog hovering in the mornings and rolling afternoon winds, this results in fruit high in acidity and robust minerality from the Mt. Eden Clone of Chardonnay.

Tasting notes: This Chardonnay is a beautiful straw color as soon as it hits the glass. The nose is a wonderful mix of fall pears, golden delicious apple along with brighter tropical notes of coconut and pineapple. On the palate everything explodes with crunchy Asian pear, ripe apricot, and fresh cucumber and creamy notes that cohesively round each sip.

La Follette, Zephyr Farms, Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2020	95 Wine Enthusiast A fascinating note of grated ginger highlights gorgeous pear, peach and toasted almond flavors in this complex, nicely balanced and mouthfilling wine grown near the Pacific Ocean and Bodega Bay. Oak spices are well integrated with good acidity and fresh fruit for an expression that’s both generous and refreshing in this tiny-production bottling. 91 James Suckling The cooked apple and lemon rind come through on the nose with some butter cookie.
