Elegant and soft, with good minerality. 100% Chardonnay blend is made from Tête de Cuvée, or first pressing of the grapes, considered superior in quality, with a high percentage of reserve wines for extra complexity, depth and richness, and a low added dosage to preserve purity and freshness

Thibaut-Janisson Extra Brut NV	★★★ Washington Post Claude Thibaut’s Blanc de Chardonnay, introduced in 2007, helped open doors for Virginia wine in restaurants and retail shops across the country. A few years ago, I offered this Xtra Brut, a slightly drier version. Both are classy, sophisticated bubblies that remind us that these are really good wines at heart. Consider this a recommendation for either one, and an invitation to compare. 90 James Suckling You could easily mistake this sparkling Virginia chardonnay for Blanc de Blancs Champagne due to its combination of lemony freshness and subtle toasty notes (from oak and lees autolysis). More remarkable still is the way it has more than enough substance and ripeness to pull off the bone-dry Extra Brut style (and the name really is written without the E!).
