Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent 16

Vaulorent is a part of Fourchaume, one of the best known Premiers Crus of the Chablis. But Vaulorent could be considered as the first Grand Cru because it offers wines of a very high quality. It is the only Premier Cru growing on Grand Cru hill, beside the Grand Cru Les Preuses.

N/Apts Vinous – Antonio Galloni– 2016 vintage

FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
(100% done in foudre): Slightly hazy medium yellow. Much more exotic on the nose than the Montée de Tonnerre, offering scents of yellow peach, passion fruit and mango accompanied by emerging spicy oak; more Chardonnay than Chablis today and still in need of further élevage. Fat and sweet in the mouth, displaying a spice character shading toward curry. Substantial millerandage in these 65-year-old vines produced very ripe grapes with lowish acidity (the yield was about 40 hectoliters per hectare and the wine was picked at 12.6% potential alcohol and chaptalized to 12.8%). (89-91)

90pts The Wine Advocate– 2016 vintage

FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent is one of the highlights of the Brocard range, unfurling in the glass with aromas of honeyed peaches and yellow orchard fruit. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, textural and glossy, with an attractive sense of completeness and a saline finish. It’s already drinking well.
