This wine has a fresh bouquet of bright red fruit mixed with light violet scents; indeed, a little Chambolle-like in style. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with blood orange fusing with red cherry/kirsch notes with good delineation on the finish.

There is good punch to the notably finer flavors that are rich, generous and rather fleshy while offering solid length. This should drink well early yet repay a few years of cellaring as well.

The 2016 Bourgogne Les Grandes Chaillots comes from fruit from the new domaine that Thibault is now working with in Chambolle-Musigny since his own vines were completely frosted. It has a fresh bouquet with bright red fruit mixed with light violet scents, indeed a little Chambolle-like in style. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with blood orange fusing with red cherries/kirsch notes with good delineation on the finish. Fine.

FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
The 2016 Bourgogne Grands Chaillots is showing very well, offering up a rich bouquet of berry fruit, dark chocolate and toasty new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with succulent acids and powdery structuring tannins, concluding with a sapid and delicately oak-inflected finish. This is an ambitious but successful Bourgogne that should evolve for a decade or more in the cellar
