This is the second wine of BELONDRADE Y LURTON (100% Verdejo). It comes partly from the de-selected barrel lots of the first wine; the rest comes from the grapes of young vines, fermented in vat. Average annual production: 36,000-42,000 bottles.
91pts The Wine Advocate – 2018 vintage
“The clean, aromatic and elegant 2018 Quinta Apolonia smelled of freshly cut hay and grass and had a very intense, clean and focused palate with great freshness, precision and length. It’s varietal and comes through as a great example of the potential of the grape and the place. Delicious, one of the best Quinta Apolonia that I can remember. 54,348 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2019.”
90pts James Suckling – 2018 vintage
“Apple pie and apricot tart feature here in prominence. Full-bodied and spicy, but quite weighty and dense. Drink now.”
The Wine Advocate – 2017 vintage
“2017 was a vey dry year that was also marked by frosts in spring and some hail, so quite challenging overall. The grapes for the 2017 Quinta Apolonia were harvested earlier than ever, starting on August 24th. The challenge here was to keep freshness and balance, and they managed nicely, while also respecting that almost-forgotten varietal character of the Verdejo grape, with its characteristic bitterness in the finish. 48,654 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2018.”
