N/Apts BURGHOUND.com– 2014 vintage

FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
from a .67 ha parcel of young vines planted in 1999 on riparia rootstock that produce very tiny berries. Here the overtly earthy and vaguely rustic nose displays notes of pepper, earth and game on the various dark berry fruit scents. There is solid intensity to the velvet-textured medium-bodied flavors that possess good vibrancy on the equally rustic, serious and balanced finale. This isn’t much on finesse but I like the frank character.

89pts Vinous – Antonio Galloni– 2017 vintage

FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE – 89 POINTS
The 2017 Santenay Clos des Hâtes, which includes 50% whole bunches, has a rather flinty, well defined bouquet that has commendable focus if not power. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe tannin, crisp and replete with cranberry and bergamot notes on the structured finish. Excellent.

90pts The Wine Advocate– 2017 vintage

FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE – 90 POINTS
The 2017 Santenay Clos des Hâtes displays a sweet bouquet of wild berries, espresso roast and rich soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated palate, its fine chalky tannins largely concealed behind succulent fruit.
