Produced by a family with a history dating back to 1640, this wine has quite the story. Today, Olivier Lamy guides the family estate into the limelight with the hand of a winemaker who has been trained by tradition to produce world-class wines every year. Before taking the reins of the family estate from his father Hubert in 1996, Olivier learned from his family while also spending time with Méo-Camuzet, a sought-after name by many collectors. Olivier stopped selling fruit to local négociants in 1997, choosing instead to divest underperforming sites and focus only on his best parcels. This decision left 16.5 hectares in the estate’s holdings today, and the quality is the best it has ever been.

N/Apts The Wine Advocate– 2014 vintage

FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Rouge has a refined bouquetm the oak nicely integrated, perhaps the most purest of Olivier Lamy’s reds. The palate is medium-bodied with a bit of sinew that should mellow during maturation, with cranberry and pomegranate notes towards the structured finish. This will probably need a year or two in bottle.

90pts Vinous – Antonio Galloni– 2017 vintage

FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE – 90 POINTS
The 2017 Saint Aubin Derrières Chez Edouard Rouge offers ripe mulberry and red plum on the nose, a little more generous than the Santenay Clos des Hâtes. The palate is medium-bodied but with plenty of fruit, unsurprisingly as this was the final parcel of red to be picked, with a touch of sous-bois and allspice lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine.

91pts The Wine Advocate– 2017 vintage

FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE – 91 POINTS
The 2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Rouge bursts with aromas of dark wild berries, warm spices and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure with good concentration, succulent acids and a precise, mineral finish. Lamy has once again used stems to masterful effect.
