Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre

The most typical Premier cru of its appellation, it is characterized by its richness and its minerality. By aging, it becomes more complex on the mineral. It will know how to convince the amateurs of wines of soil characteristics. Aromas of crystallized apricot, underlying butter and liquorice notes, with touches of spices. Lovely minerality, with a powerful structured finish. Delicious with scallops, tart of époisses and cheeses of Burgundy.

91pts BURGHOUND.com– 2015 vintage

FOR THE 2015 VINTAGE
Like the Butteaux and Vaulorent there is distinct phenolic character to the white orchard fruit, floral and iodine-scented nose. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the precise and pure medium-bodied flavors that are definitely sleeker while retaining an appealing sense of energy on the rich, saline and lingering finish. This is ripe but it is one of the few of these 2015s that could pass for a rich 2014.

92pts Wine Enthusiast– 2016 vintage

FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
On the right bank of the river Serein, this premier cru produces a complex, flinty, steely style of wine. This vintage retains much of that texture while adding riper apricot and apple flavors. It is tight and still young. Drink from 2019.

96pts Decanter Magazine– 2018 vintage

FOR THE 2018 VINTAGE
Did organic viticulture enable the Brocards to deal with the heat of the 2018 vintage? There’s certainly no sign of stress or over-ripeness in this beautifully weighted foudre- and stainless steel-fermented Right Bank premier cru, the best of the vintage. Sappy, elegant and refined with a hint of wood spice and a fresh, racy, classically Chablisien finish.
