Nicolas Rossignol Volnay 1er Cru Chevret 17

The rich, refined and well-detailed medium-bodied flavors possess excellent intensity on the long, focused and palate staining finish. This beauty is very Volnay in character and should offer 12 to 15 years of upside development potential.

N/Apts The Wine Advocate– 2016 vintage

FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru En Chevret, which comes from 45- and 65-year-old vines cropped at 12 hectoliters per hectare with 50% whole bunch fruit. It has a perfumed, floral bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, crushed stone and crushed rose petals all nicely defined, brown spices developing later. The palate is juicy and thickly textured on the entry, one big mouthful of Volnay with a Pommard like backbone. This is clearly built for aging, aloof and rather foreboding at this early stage and so afford it several years in bottle.

N/Apts The Wine Advocate– 2017 vintage

FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE
The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Chevret offers up lovely aromas of dark chocolate, plums, cassis and rich soil. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and expansive, with a lavish attack that segues into a more tensile, firm mid-palate and finish. 91-93pts

N/Apts Vinous – Antonio Galloni– 2017 vintage

FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE
The 2017 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru contains 30% whole clusters. It has a more complex bouquet than Les Caillerets, featuring blackberry, sage, clove and a light marine influence. The palate is succulent and rounded, perhaps belying the backbone of this Volnay. There is good grip and nice focus here. A lick of limestone titillates the tongue on the finish. Superb. 92-94pts
