Trencalos Tempranillo

Produced from Tempranillo vines averaging 20 years old. The vines are grown in sandy clay-loam with high level of active limestone. The climate there is continental with Mediterranean influence; a cold winter is followed by hot summer days and warm summer nights. Grapes underwent a pre-fermentation cold soak to enhance color and fruit aroma in the finished wine. Fermentation occurred in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.

N/A pts Vinous – Antonio Galloni – 2014 vintage

“Deep ruby. Ripe red berries, dried cherry pit and a touch of pipe tobacco on the perfumed nose. Smoky and focused in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and rose pastille flavors sharpened by a peppery nuance. Takes a turn to darker blue fruits on the youthfully tannic finish, which hangs on with good tenacity. Interestingly, this wine is called Tempranillo on the front label while on the back label it is referred to as Cencibel, which is an old, local name for the variety.”
