Attractive and vivid ruby-red colour. Clean and fresh on the nose, with notes of black fruit and a good aromatic intensity. Clean attack on the palate, rich in fruit. Elegant and balanced on the mid palate. Elegant on the finish, with fine tannins.
93pts James Suckling– 2014 vintage
Another big, dark St.-Estèphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. Spice comes through at the end.
91-93pts Wine Enthusiast– 2014vintage
Barrel Sample. Fruit forward, this wine shows ripe blackberries and dark plums on the palate. It exudes a richness that is contrasted by intense acidity and lifted fruit flavors.
92pts Vinous– 2014 vintage
Just as expressive from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande is superb. Black cherry, plum, gravel, smoke, savory herbs, licorice and expressive floral notes abound in a rich, deeply textured Saint-Estèphe that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The plush, textured finish only adds to the wine’s considerable appeal. Drink this pliant, expressive Saint-Estèphe over the next 15-20 years or more. This is a stellar showing. The blend is 56 % Merlot, 37 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Petit Verdot and 1 % Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.
