The 2017 Organic Red consists of a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the best organic vineyards across the Western Cape, a quarter of it coming directly from the estate. The grapes were sorted, destemmed and wild, spontaneous fermentation took place in a combination of concrete tanks and open top stainless steel fermenters using the submerged cap fermentation technique. 25% of the wine spent eight months in older oak barrels after which the assemblage is made up and bottled.

90+pts Wine Advocate– 2017 vintage

“The 2017 Syrah shows the heart of Syrah on the nose the with black fruit and a dusty minerality with black pepper and smoky dried herbs. The palate is clean, correct and shows focused precision of balanced dusty ripe fruit and black spice with a soft smokiness that is classic for Syrah. The finish is long and thoughtful and delivers pleasure.”

93pts Decanter– 2017 vintage

“ An accomplished Syrah from Africa’s first biodynamic proucer. Johan Reyneke works with handpicked grapes, one third of which are foot trodden. Natural fermentation is folowed by 14 months in oak. The result is a harmonious wine with attractive, violet edged rasberry and blueberry aromas and a whiff of smoke. Bright red and black fruit on the palate is wrapped in sliky tannins with spicy, savoury hints. ”
