Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos

This very known soil, the vastest of Grands Crus, has a big personality. The south exposure gives generous, very dry, powerful, rich, long wines on the palate, which make miracles after some years of ageing. Les Clos always develop in an exceptional way in time, by remaining mineral and powerful. Yellow green colour. The nose is pure, chiselled, refined, in the mineral notes (shell of oyster, slightly iodized). The mouth reveals a beautiful salinity, in the spicy and peppered notes, with a fine woody and toasted touch. A wine very distinguished, which has many elegance. Wine-making : Pneumatic pressing. Fermentation with temperature control and indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation completed. Ageing on the lees during 18 months : 80% in foudre, 20% in oak.

94pts Vinous – Antonio Galloni– 2014 vintage

FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
(bottled in January): Pale, bright yellow. Fresh yellow peach, apricot, lemon and toast on the nose, accented by a subtle spearmint note and a whiff of oyster shell. Densely packed, intense, saline and penetrating; tightly wound yet somehow pliant, this wine offers considerable charm owing to its early balance and sweetness but is built for a graceful evolution. Superb, seamless wine with enlivening saline minerality carrying the finish and giving it terrific grip and lift.

94pts Wine Enthusiast – 2014 vintage

FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
This vineyard is regarded as the finest of the Grand Crus, certainly for its more serious character. This 2014 has great complexity, toast and spice mingling with the mineral and whitefruit flavors. It is obviously set for long-term aging with its wood still not fully integrated. Drink this impressive wine from 2020.

N/Apts Vinous – Antonio Galloni– 2013 vintage

FOR THE 2013 VINTAGE
Brocard’s 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is all about texture. Soft, seamless and totally inviting, but with good underlying acidity and minerality, the Clos is a rare wine from this site that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Yellow orchard fruit, flowers, mint and sweet spices inform the supple, resonant finish.
