Our Talon Vineyard in Grovetown provides 62% of the 2014 Black Label. The balance comes from two other vineyards in the same area of Marlborough’s lower Wairau Plain. The 2014 vintage was going great guns until a prolonged period of rain in late April really threw out a challenge. We were really happy to get the grapes in before the heavens opened.

Priced between the Nest and Raptor ranges, fruit for this wine comes mainly from the loam-rich Talon Vineyard (all the wines and vineyards pay tribute to the threatened Karearea or New Zealand falcon). It’s juicy and elegant, with pungent blackcurrant leaf, nettle and mineral notes and a ripe melon and passion fruit finish.
