In recent years Alejandro Luna has been purchasing old vineyards of Godello looking to produce a serious white wine to compliment his stable of reds. Produced from 60 year old vineyards, which were propagated as a clonal seleccion of best vineyard plots of Godello within Bierzo. Soils are a combination of calciferous clay and decomposed slate. The vineyard is located between 600 and 750 meters of elevation. Grapes were hand harvested prior to overnight skin contact. The pressed must sees fermentation in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures (12-15° C). Following fermentation the wine is aged for 2 months on fine lees prior to bottling.
91pts Vinous– 2018 vintage
Vivid straw-yellow. Aromas of fresh pear, melon and tangerine are energized by a suggestion of chalky minerals. Sappy and concentrated, yet nervy as well, offering bitter citrus pith, pear skin and honeysuckle flavors that become spicier on the back half. Shows very good depth and clarity finishing long and taut, with persistent mineral and floral qualities. (All stainless steel.)

90pts Wine Spectator– 2018 vintage
Smoky and flinty notes frame pear, fennel and lime zest flavors in this firm white. Features a fleshy texture, but crisp acidity and minerality keep this taut. Rich yet focused. Drink now through 2023.
89pts Wine Advocate– 2018 vintage
There are a bunch of wines from 2018 already bottled, among which was the 2018 Godello from Luna Beberide. Such recent bottling tends to be harsh for whites, which tend to show reductive and reminiscent of sulfur, so you often have to guide yourself by the palate, which revealed a wine that follows the path of freshness of 2016, with clean flavors and citrus freshness. Give it a few more months in bottle. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2018.
